The perpetual calendar designed in the early 1980s by Kurt Klaus comprises around 80 parts and independently recognizes the various lengths of the months and leap years. It will require no readjustment until 2100. The date, day, month, moon phase and year displays are perfectly synchronized with each other. If the watch has not been worn for some time, it can be reset merely by turning the crown. The IWC-manufactured 89630 calibre combines the perpetual calendar with a chronograph function.
